It's been forever since I've posted an update, so I figured I better do so before Lexi's birthday at least.
Lainy is almost 2 1/2 now and any traces of babyhood have long left her. She's talking a lot more but still not very clearly. We have started her on speech therapy this past week to help her with this and save on both ours and her frustration level. I'm trying to think of new things shes doing, but it's more what is she not doing! She has been getting big into dress up lately and I even included a picture where she came out of the bathroom wearing my skirt, bra, and shoes. Potty training is on again/off again. Most of the time she will tell us after she has went potty versus before, and I've tried the method of taking her to the potty every 30-60 minutes to hopefully catch it beforehand but she's gotten very defiant with that and now yells "no pee pee on potty". So I figured we might back off a bit and she if she gets a renewed interest in it. The big girl bed is still great, I think she's been in that since January and she has been off the pacifier since March right after her birthday.
And well Lexi, I don't know what's happened but she's not my little baby anymore either. She's almost 10 months old, has 6 teeth and is due for some more since we haven't had any new ones for a few months now. She started army crawling around 7 1/2 months, and at around 9 months started crawling correctly with her tummy off the floor. And now she crawls insanely fast and can clear a room before you know it. She's also pulling herself up and crusing around things. Lexi had nonstop ear infections from about 3 months until 9 months when we decided to get tubes put in her ears. The tubes should last 1-2 years and will fall out by themselves and when she gets an ear infection, her ears will drain out a brown waxy substance and we just have to put an ear drop in there 3 times a day for a week. So much easier then being in the doctor's office every other week! The funny thing is the day after her tubes is when she started crawling with her tummy off the floor and pulling up and crusing. So maybe she felt a lot better? Lexi is still my little sweetie pie. She is very smiley and cuddly and is a favorite with all the daycare teachers. My only gripe is that she still gets up a lot in the night. The last few days (knock on wood) she has done pretty well and has been getting up once around 3:30am and then wants to be up for the day around 6:00am. This is with going down around 8:00pm. She is still sleeping in her crib in our bedroom and once we get the basement finished (trim needs painted and then carpeted) we will be moving the spare bedroom to the basement and Lexi will have the bedroom next to Lainy's room. Lexi has the nicknames of destructo or Jedi Master. Destructo cause the child gets into absolutely everything and leaves behind a trail of destruction where ever she goes. And Jedi Master cause of her quick relexes while eating. Whenever you feed her baby food, her hands will come out of no where and block the spoon right before it goes in her mouth and it goes everywhere. She'll either do that, or she'll get her arms going and waves them in front of her mouth to block the spoon, or she'll bite down on the spoon and not let go. It literally took me 20 minutes to feed her breakfast a week ago and afterwards she was so covered that we both needed bathes. So this last week, I've given up and switched her to just table foods and let her feed herself. It's been so much easier!
Enough talking, on to the pictures. Click on the girls below to view the photo album.
